Adapting to La Siesta on Your Trip to Spain
No matter how much you read about the siesta and how it affects the flow of daily (and nightly) life in Spain, it must be experienced to be fully understood – and appreciated. Hopefully you will not arrive at your Spanish destination during the restaurants' siesta, but if you do, plan ahead by bringing along some snacks or something to eat from the airport to fill the period of time between lunch and dinner.
Real people: Homemade video of Parc Guell in Barcelona
This home-made video from a Barcelona traveler and her family shows how they progress from the city and up the long, steep hill to Parc Guell. I'll bet they wish they took a direct bus to the Park Guell main entrance.
Unlike the typically travel video produced by a travel company or tourist bureau, this video seems so much more genuine. Some areas of Barcelona are poorer than others - like anywhere else. Still, it looked like a fun adventure seeing and exploring Parc Guell.
With the family bundled in coats, this homemade travel video appears to have been taken in the off-season.
"Cafe con Leche, por favor" - Coffee with Milk, Please
Ask for a coffee with milk and you'll recieve an espresso served with milk in a small cup as shown. North Americans used to the daily 24 oz. servings of Dunkin Donuts or Tim Horton's coffee will need to order a few to get the necessary caffeine. Just remember, these are espressos, so drink in moderation.
It's common to pull up a seat at a cafe and order a coffee.
